There's no doubt the idea has merit.

The essential forgotten question in health policy today is whether government should do, or fund, or mandate A, B, or C. Remember limited government?

Law is force. Government acts only by taking our taxes. Too often, it uses them not to serve the general welfare, but according to its own priorities. (Politics, for example.)

The only way to avoid the special interest quagmire is to say No to such "public investing."

Legislators should shut down the governor's slush fund. The governor should send corporate beggars in a quick about-face to banks, friends, and other private lenders.

Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is also known as the slush fund for the Governor's cronies. MEDC sends out regular emails listing its various spending projects featured in the media.

Under the Snyder administration, daily emails featured 2-3 articles impacting healthcare.

Under the Whitmer administration, I see fewer than 1 per month. (Not watching as closely, I may miss a few.)
