When one government agency blasts three emails on the same topic within a week, it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots.

The first of the LARA series was on May 14, subject line "Regulatory Survey."

Dear licensee,

In a continuing effort to protect people and promote business, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs is seeking your input to identify requirements that make the process of obtaining a license challenging. LARA is always seeking ways to make licensure as simple and efficient as possible, and we need your input to identify those regulatory requirements that can be changed or eliminated to improve processes. Please complete this brief survey and tell us about any law, rule, or process changes that would make the process easier for applicants seeking licenses with LARA. The survey will be available for completion until Friday, May 24 at 5 PM.

Best Regards,

Bureau of Professional Licensing

Sounds like an opportunity, but other than eliminating licensing altogether I wasn't sure what to suggest.

Then came the polite missive dated May 17.

Subject: Implicit Bias Reminder.

And it all came back.

(I last wrote about Michigan's IBT in May, 2023.)

Dear Licensee,

As the Department has recently received questions regarding the Implicit Bias Training requirement, we would like to reiterate that the rule provides a detailed description of what the training should cover and who is an acceptable sponsor of the training. Any training that meets the requirements of the rule is acceptable. Please note the Department does not pre-approve these training programs. We recommend that applicants refer to the standards that have been established in rule for guidance on what is acceptable.

The Department may select and audit a sample of a licensees or registrants and request documentation of proof of compliance with this rule. For additional information, please view our FAQs .

Sincerely,

Bureau of Professional Licensing

Just days ago on May 20, LARA followed up with a repeat of the "Regulatory Survey" email.

I checked it out, and found a simple one-pager entitled - believe it or not! - Cutting Red Tape.

Fill it out HERE.

Anyone may complete the survey. It's not necessary to be licensed. And you may fill it out multiple times for different professions.

The life you save may be your own!

DEADLINE FRIDAY MAY 24

Talking points:

  • Implicit Bias Training is divisive, ideologically-driven, an insult to Christian conscience, and violates constitutional principles of equality.
  • Licensing and renewal would be far simpler without IBT.
  • Clinicians deserve being able to focus on their patients and work relationships without state interference.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of IBT problems, much less license complaints in general. Please add your own points for the survey. We'd be thrilled if you'd share them here as well.

Just my intuition here.

If I had to guess why LARA sent Email #2 Implicit Bias Reminder, I'd say it may be because they've gotten resistance to taking it.

However, knowing how super-woke types like their control, my bet would be LARA got complaints about one particular option.

This arrived in my inbox back on April 26.

A New Kind of Implicit Bias Training is Available to Michigan Medical Professionals

I am proud to announce the launch of Implicit Bias Training for Michigan Healthcare Professionals, a new and non-woke alternative continuing medical education course that fulfills the implicit bias training mandate in Michigan and beyond.

Background

In June of 2022, Michigan began mandating that all medical professionals – physicians, nurses, dentists, therapists, and more – take so-called “implicit bias training” as a condition of license issue or renewal.

Since then, numerous physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals contacted Do No Harm to express their concerns with this mandate, seeking an alternative training that meets the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requirements without the politicized indoctrination contained in courses endorsed by organizations like the Michigan State Medical Society.

Our Solution

Our team heard your concerns, and in response, we developed an on-demand, internet-based three-module course that provides a coherent alternative to healthcare professionals who are affected by Michigan’s mandate – and meets all LARA requirements.

Take Implicit Bias Training for Michigan Professionals

Unlike other offerings, the facts and evidence for implicit bias and related concepts are presented in our course, rather than the common narratives that are perpetuated by educational offerings that only present the ideological point of view.

We are very excited to offer this groundbreaking opportunity to you and all medical professionals in Michigan. A detailed FAQs document about the course is available here and instructions on how you can access, register, and complete the course are available here.

If you would like to take the course for free, click here to become a Do No Harm member and after your membership is submitted we will send you a code that you can use for a no-cost registration.

I encourage you to share this opportunity with your colleagues who share your concerns with existing offerings. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, need support, or would like to share your feedback.

Founder and Chairman, Do No Harm
