Spain's Agencia EFE (fourth largest news agency worldwide, like our AP) reports from Tapachula, Mexico that 3 in 10 "irregular migrants" arriving at the southern Mexican border have tested positive for syphilis according to Brigada Callejera en Apoyo Elisa Martínez. Since these "irregular migrants" are all headed to the United States, and we have acute shortages of effective antibiotics, you can expect a syphilis epidemic here, soon.
Makes you wonder about the measles outbreak underway in Michigan, doesn't it?

NGO warns that three out of 10 migrants on the southern border of Mexico have syphilis
EFE Agency - Sun, March 3, 2024, 2:28 p. m. EST·2 min of readingTapachula (Mexico), Mar 3 (EFE) .- Three out of every 10 migrants on the southern border of Mexico have syphilis or some other sexually transmitted infection (STI), As warned this Sunday by the organization 'Callejera Brigade in Apoyo Elisa Martínez', which carried out tests in the area.
Given the migratory flow, associations like this have carried out rapid tests to detect sexually transmitted diseases in migrants who are in Tapachula, on the border of Mexico with Guatemala.
Cristian Gómez Fuentes, head of the organization in Tapachula, revealed that they have detected a considerable contagion of syphilis, so they seek to treat this disease primarily.
“ The person who is detected is invited to take their partner so that they both receive their treatment, we are talking about 30 % of the general migrant population and mainly the Cuban population. Now the brigade is doing (tests of) HIV and syphilis and, thank God, we have not detected HIV ”, he told EFE.
Given the notation, the Cuban migrant Leonel Vega Díaz recommended that his compatriots go to the different health centers, to protect themselves and use contraceptives.
"Here is a center called Capacit Tapachula, where you are treated for HIV and any type of sexually transmitted disease, the Cuban if he has that situation and if he comes out for any reason I recommend that they monitor each time and do their test because in time everything can be solved, "he said.
Rosemberg López Samayoa, president of 'A Friendly Hand in the Fight against AIDS', acknowledged that the outlook is not encouraging, particularly due to the transit of young people.
“ For this reason, when we have meetings with the Comar (Mexican Refugee Aid Commission) and the National Institute of Migration, (we ask) that they get involved in the issues of prevention and the information that should be given to migrants because there are young people who have been having sexual practices during their journey", exposed.
He stressed that the group cares for some 400 migrants a month, who are usually detected by respiratory diseases or fungal infections, as they remain up to seven consecutive days without personal hygiene.
Venezuelan Briseida said that she went to the 'Street Brigade' module because she needs to guarantee her health to advance healthy.
“ We bring some flu, infection, some birth diseases, and the more you consult the more opportunities you have to detect them in time, we are concerned, "he said.
The situation reflects the humanitarian crisis in Mexico, which reported an annual rise of more than 77% in irregular migration, exceeding more than 782,000 people in 2023.
