MDHHS seeks proposals for Peer Navigator Pilot Project to support pregnant and postpartum people impacted by substance use disorder

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is requesting proposals to increase support for pregnant and postpartum people impacted by substance use disorder by placing Peer Navigators in health care or behavioral health settings. Peer Navigators support families in their recovery journey while also helping families get connected to resources within the community.The Request for Proposal (RFP) is open to public and nonprofit entities such as nonprofit hospitals/health systems, obstetrician and gynecological offices, community health centers, community substance use treatment providers, community peer recovery coaching agencies, federal recognized tribes and Federally Qualified Health Centers.
The five-month award begins May 1 and ends Sept. 30, 2024. There is $500,000 available, with maximum awards of $125,000 and minimum awards of $60,000. Successful applicants will be eligible to apply for non-competitive annual renewals based on availability of funds and acceptable performance.
A pre-application conference will be held to provide information about this grant program and instruction on using the EGrAMS system. The pre-application conference will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 31, and will last approximately 90 minutes. The webinar can be accessed at https://bit.ly/4aheZxJ . Any questions concerning the content of this RFP must be sent via email to heita1@michigan.gov on or before Friday, Feb. 2. Questions may also be discussed verbally at the pre-application conference. MDHHS will compile questions and answers and post these as well as any other clarifications or revisions to the initial RFP by Wednesday, Feb. 7, on the EGrAMS website.
Grant applications for the Peer Navigator Pilot Program Implementation RFP must be submitted electronically through EGrAMS by 3 p.m., Thursday, March 7.
