Democracy Dies In Darkness, the old WaPo slogan, certainly applies to the secret agreement among 22 blue state Attorneys General to legally thwart President-elect Trump.  Linus Banghart-Linn, AG Dana Nessel's Chief Legal Counsel, signed this CIA on behalf of AG Nessel back on November 14, 2024, despite Michigan having voted for President-elect Trump.  They appear to have extended the agreement from birthright citizenship challenges to all things Trump:

We have obtained a secret agreement between 22 blue states, DC, and San Francisco, signed beginning on November 8, 2024. This agreement, just 3 days after President Trump's landslide election win, shows that these resistance actors began, as a matter of absolute urgent top priority, plotting their resistance to President Trump's anticipated actions to end birthright citizenship.

Despite the mandate from the American People to end the border crisis and return immigration enforcement to the United States, politicians instead acted to frantically preserve their perceived political gains of the Biden Border Crisis. Their top priority was not gas, groceries, public safety, or any other matter of concerns of their citizen constituents, but instead a raw political calculus to ensure that the future children of the illegal aliens that entered during the Biden Border Crisis could turn into voters.

Instead of trying to win back American voters, they seek to create new ones to replace them on the back of the worst border crisis in American history:

AG Nessel has never acknowledged her involvement in the secret pact among 22 Democratic state Attorneys General to oppose every action of the Trump Administration.  Today we got a little candor, but she still does not fully acknowledge the December 2024 "Common Interest Agreement":

Midwestern attorneys general reaffirm importance of state action in combating Trump administration

In a joint press conference on Wednesday, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul and Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, reemphasized the importance of the legal battles that they have taken up, alongside many of their Democratic colleagues, in the last year against the Trump administration.

Kaul called the work of the attorneys general as acting as a “critical buffer in stopping some of that chaos from impacting people in our communities.”

Democratic attorneys general, including the three at the press conference, have secured 22 active injunctions against Trump administration policies, as well as eight total court victories, Nessel said, adding that in Michigan, that has resulted in more than $2.2 billion being either returned or preserved for the state.

Raoul added, pushing back on criticism that these court cases are attacks on the administration’s policies and going beyond the scope of an attorney general, that the cases are based on the fact that the Constitution and laws already passed are being violated by Trump.

“If it were just simply policy differences, I might use my voice to speak out against the policy difference, but I would not be in the courtroom fighting,” he said. “But in these instances, our Constitution and our laws have been violated, and that’s why we fight.”

In Michigan, legislation introduced by House Republicans in December and passed by the GOP-led House Judiciary Committee would seek to limit the attorney general’s powers to intervene in lawsuits, including those she has taken up against the Trump administration.

Nessel said in the press conference that she is “confident that those efforts will not be successful,” adding that many Republicans who she talks to are “relieved that we brought those lawsuits and relieved that we won them,” after learning more about the impacts of the federal policies in question.

“It didn’t matter if you were a Democrat, a Republican, an independent, man, woman, parent, every single one of us would have been impacted,” Nessel said.

Kaul said, referring more broadly to attempts to limit the power of state attorneys general, “This is not what democracy is about. We have a clear set of rules, and the people get to choose who exercises those offices.”

“The reality is, what’s happening is the administration is blatantly and willfully violating the law, and so when we step in, we have been able to get what’s considered extraordinary relief, relief stopping the administration from going forward in case after case, because what it’s doing is so clearly unlawful,” Kaul added.

Nessel also said that she has been working with state and local law enforcement to prepare for future actions by ICE or other federal law enforcement agencies in Michigan, especially following the recent, violent deployment of ICE agents in Minnesota.

“Much of the conversation revolves around, how do we protect communities all over the state from illegal actions, abuses, violations of civil liberties by federal agents, which is a really sad statement to make,” she said. “I’m going to be doing everything I can to work with other members of law enforcement to ensure that we are protecting the public from these illegal actions by the federal government. It’s intolerable, and we need to fight as hard as we can to protect against those kinds of abuses.”

Having reread this piece several times, I find no mention of who won the November 5, 2024 General Election for U.S. President in Wisconsin and Michigan.  Evidently, the party name "Democrat" is an utter falsehood in both Michigan and Wisconsin.
