Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is also known as the slush fund for the Governor's cronies. MEDC sends out regular emails listing its various spending projects featured in the media.

Under the Snyder administration, daily emails featured 2-3 articles impacting healthcare.

Under the Whitmer administration, I see fewer than 1 per month. (Not watching as closely, I may miss a few.)

Yes, elections do make a difference.

Alerje in Detroit Partners with Mitsubishi to Revolutionize Allergy Care

Alerje Inc. in Detroit, which specializes in emergency medicine and food allergy management, and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co., a global leader in chemical and life sciences technologies, today announced a strategic partnership aimed at transforming allergy diagnosis and treatment on a global scale.

Alerje Inc. in Detroit, which specializes in emergency medicine and food allergy management, and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co., a global leader in chemical and life sciences technologies, today announced a strategic partnership aimed at transforming allergy diagnosis and treatment on a global scale.

The synergy is expected to create a comprehensive, personalized allergy care solution that could significantly improve patient outcomes and quality of life. Food allergies affect 220 million people globally.

Key aspects of the partnership include:

  • Joint efforts to bring advanced allergy diagnostic platforms to the United States market.
  • Integration of food allergy technologies, aiming to create a holistic approach to personalized allergy care.
  • This collaboration aligns with MGC’s strategic long-term plan, focusing on medical and food sectors.

“This partnership with MGC represents a significant milestone in our mission to improve the lives of millions affected by allergies,” says Javier Evelyn, founder and CEO of Alerje. “With our powers combined, we’re poised to deliver unprecedented advancements in allergy diagnosis and management.”

The partnership focuses on rethinking food allergy care. The work combines better testing with innovative therapies, aiming to change how people live with food allergies. The goal is to help people with food allergies live freely, not just cope with symptoms.

“We are excited about the potential of this collaboration with Alerje,” says Yoshinori Isahaya, director, managing executive officer at MGC. “Together, we aim to set new standards in allergy care, leveraging our combined technologies and expertise to address unmet needs in both the U.S. and Japanese markets.”

Alerje integrates emergency medicine with AI enabled digital health tools, and offers a remote patient monitoring platform backed by the National Science Foundation.

The platform gathers and processes vital information as well as predicts treatment outcomes, which enhances care strategies for allergists. Alerje’s internationally patented technology combines a low-cost life-saving epinephrine auto-injector with a smartphone case, ensuring patients have immediate access to medication, thus redefining adherence and emergency response.

Mitsubishi Gas Chemical is a leading global chemical company that develops and manufactures a wide range of products in the fields of basic chemicals, fine chemicals, and functional materials. With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, MGC contributes to society through chemistry-based solutions.

Alerje has two primary products which can help patients with managing food allergies: the first being an epinephrine autoinjector that is attached to the patient's phone, the second being phone application to help track immunotherapy treatments.

In my experience as an EMT, patient outcomes for anaphylaxis have been better for those who received epinephrine earlier. If a patient is suffering from a highly severe allergy, having an autoinjector attached to their phone may be a good idea.

Introducing The Omniject™

Studies have shown* that when it comes to anaphylactic reactions, even minutes count. Get back to your life with less worry.

The patented smartphone-attached Omniject™ epinephrine auto-injector prioritizes storage, convenience, and safety.

Adhered to your phone case,
Alerje's Ominiject™ will always be with you in case of emergency and will stay at the appropriate temperature for maximum epinephrine effectiveness.

Automatic alerts to the patient’s allergist, first responders, and support circle if a dose from the case is activated.

Achieve life's goals beyond food allergies: Oral Immunotherapy (OIT) management to get you to the maintenance finish line.

Keeps you and your allergist
connected, simplifying the Oral Immunotherapy process, plus treatment-specific resources.

Rewards and celebrates you for achieving OIT milestones and collects mental health data to share with your allergist, helping you work together to win OIT and achieve treatment goals.

Reminders to take your dose, alerting you and your allergist in case of missed doses through daily tracking.

There's no doubt the idea has merit.

The essential forgotten question in health policy today is whether government should do, or fund, or mandate A, B, or C. Remember limited government?

Law is force. Government acts only by taking our taxes. Too often, it uses them not to serve the general welfare, but according to its own priorities. (Politics, for example.)

The only way to avoid the special interest quagmire is to say No to such "public investing."

Legislators should shut down the governor's slush fund. The governor should send corporate beggars in a quick about-face to banks, friends, and other private lenders.
