Biblical perspective on government

"He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him." ~ Proverbs 18:17

Isn't that a wonderful description of a bill sponsor presenting a bill? And then the opposition comes along and all sorts of other facts come to light.

At least, they should come to light. And they do, at a good, well-attended hearing. Sadly, this does not happen as often as would be good for us as individuals, families, a state, and a country.

Ever since studying political philosophy and the American founding, I see different things when I read the Bible. Now, the biblical perspective on governance just pops out. Truths of human nature, too; and what it takes for us to live well together.
