Fingerprinting laws are apparently only for the law-abiding and the non-desperate. All such requirements notwithstanding, Michigan has had several nurse impersonations over the past few years.

Roseville woman accused of impersonating nurse

She is charged with identity theft, unauthorized practice

October 23, 2026

A 45-year-old Roseville woman has been charged with two felonies on allegations she used the nursing license number of another person to work as an LPN.

Shonda Natasha Davis, 45, of Roseville, was arraigned last week in 41A District Court in Sterling Heights on one count each of identity theft, a 5-year felony, and unauthorized practice of a health profession, a 4-year felony, according to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.

Davis, who is not a Licensed Practical Nurse, used the LPN license number of another woman to apply for and gain employment at Maxim Healthcare in Flint, a company that provides home healthcare and other services, in August 2024, Nessel said in a press release. Davis worked at Maxim as an LPN until April 2025.

Davis provided health services to Medicaid beneficiary patients despite holding no license to do so, according to Nessel. Parents of patients and supervising employees reported that the quality of Davis’ work was clearly deficient.

“This case alleges a shocking abuse of public records, and the trust and care of patients,” Nessel said in the release. “Medicaid patients, and patients everywhere, should be able to trust their healthcare providers are qualified and vetted.

Davis is scheduled to appear Monday for a probable-cause hearing and is scheduled for a Nov. 2 preliminary examination, both in 41A District Court.
