These Insurance mandates pick up from the September 26 hearing (notes here), were amended (except the last bill), and passed committee proceeding to the floor of the Senate.

It's worth noting that in 2013, an insider of Michigan's insurance industry publicly stated that each insurance mandate added 4% to the price of each premium. At that time, there were about 34 mandates. We're now approaching 40.

The real question: Does putting more dollars into the hands of corporate insurance benefit corporate, or individuals?

And any other business properly before the committee.

The Michigan Senate passed SB 973 & 974 by a 27 to 9 vote today, to expand insurance coverage for over-the-counter contraception.  The bills now advance to the State House.
