CarePoint Hospitals Plan To Lay Off 2,600 Workers In New Jersey: State
CarePoint Health, which owns hospitals in Bayonne, Jersey City, and Hoboken is planning to cut employees in December, a WARN notice says.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — CarePoint Health, which owns Bayonne Medical Center, Christ Hospital and Hoboken University Medical Center, plans to part ways with more than 2,600 employees by the end of this year, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) advisory on the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development website.
CarePoint Health is planning to lay off a total of 859 workers from Bayonne Medical Center, 843 workers from Christ Hospital in Jersey City, and 900 workers from Hoboken University Medical Center, according to the WARN notice.
The layoffs would take effect on Dec. 12.
WARN notices offer protection to workers, their families and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of plant closings and mass layoffs.
Financially beleaguered Carepoint Health has struggled since converting to a nonprofit in 2021. Recently in January, Carepoint joined Hudson Regional Hospital, formerly Meadowlands Hospital in Secauus, to form a new healthcare system.
