Ten years ago, an industry insider publicly disclosed the cost of state mandates on health insurance.

At the time, Michigan had over 33 items mandated for coverage. Each item averaged an addition 4% charge to every policy sold in our state.

Here we go with a few more.

Oh, and another money-grab: certification.

Room 519, House Office Building, Lansing, MI

AGENDA:

HB 5013 (Rep. Rogers)
Insurance; health insurers; coverage for the dispensing of a 12-month supply of birth control; require.

HB 5435 (Rep. Young)
Insurance; health insurers; coverage for pharmacist prescribing hormonal contraceptives; require.

HB 5436 (Rep. Hope)
Health occupations; pharmacists; pharmacists to prescribe and dispense certain contraceptives; allow.

SB 449 (Sen. Daley)
Human services; medical services; access to quality complex rehabilitation technology; provide for.

SB 450 (Sen. Irwin)
Human services; medical services; definitions of quality complex rehabilitation technology; provide for.

OR ANY BUSINESS PROPERLY BEFORE THIS COMMITTEE

By the way, "quality complex rehabilitation technology" is a wheelchair fitting. The certified fitting-makers want to outlaw the uncertified fitting-makers.

It's the Dr. Suess story about "Stars upon thars" all over again!
