Today's bills would empower Whitmer-created LEO (Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity) with all OSHA responsibilities, removing current LARA and MDHHS roles. Effectively, current policy provides internal executive branch checks and balances.

External checks and balances are also removed: public transparency, legislative oversight reports, and penalties.

AGENDA

SB 49
Sen. Cherry
Labor: health and safety; revisions to the occupational safety and health act; provide for.

SB 50

And any other business properly before the committee.
